The reconstituted governing board of the Public Procurement Authority, (PPA) have been tasked to work assiduously to ensure value for money in government procurement. The Deputy Minister of Finance, Mrs. Abena Osei-Asare made this statement during the inauguration of a nine member reconstituted board of the PPA. She entreated them to put measures in place to make government procurement procedure more transparent and free of corruption.
The board chaired by Prof. Douglas Boateng,has Mr. Adjenim Boateng Adjei (CEO,PPA), Mr. Godfred Yeboah Odame, Dr. Emmanuel Yao Boakye and Madam Ernestina Swatson, Mrs. Stella Dede Williams, Mr. Samuel Richard Nee Baidoo, Mr. Dave Kofi Owusu and Mad. Patricia Sarfo as members.
The Board Chairman in his remarks promised to finalize and implement a procurement class within the public sector to help attract competent, ethically-driven and value-adding professionals to the sourcing function.
The Board will also collaborate with various academic and training institutions to undertake relevant procurement research and create educational and skills development content relevant to Ghana’s developmental needs.
The Board will also develop a Code of Ethics, champion the establishment of a world class professional body to represent and give a collective voice to procurement practitioners, and appraise the amended Public Procurement Act to ascertain how the objects and independence of the PPA could be further strengthened to support the long-term industrialization and socio-economic development agenda of Ghana.
He pledge that the Board would work hard to maintain the confidence reposed in them by the President.
